Cristiano Ronaldo has addressed the ongoing speculation about his rivalry with Lionel Messi with a tweet that says it’s all a “lie.”

Ronaldo’s seven goals in six appearances this season has put him on track to match Messi’s record of 85 headed goals, while Ronaldo has scored 103 times for Real Madrid in 105 matches and Messi has scored 91 for Barcelona in 122 outings.
Messi, 29, won the Ballon d’Or on Thursday and declared he had “nothing to prove” when asked about Ronaldo’s hot streak.
However, with their clubs being second and third in La Liga behind Barca, it’s no surprise to see Real boss Zinedine Zidane making light of the situation when speaking to journalists after the match.
“Ask Ronaldo if he’s satisfied or if he’s happy, and don’t ask Messi about his personal situation,” Zidane said.
Ronaldo broke Gerd Mueller’s 41-year-old record of 80 goals in a calendar year in November with his tally at 85. Messi still has two competitions to compete in, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League, but Ronaldo has moved level with Alan Shearer for sixth on the all-time list in the process.
